Default Tire strategy ? (not about brand)

Got Original Perilli's on rear that need replacing. Have Dunlop's on front with good tread still. Spare tire is original Perili. Question is how to go about replacement? Should the spare be used on rear with a new Perilli, or replace the old Perilli's with new Dunlop.s on rear, or perhaps get all new tires(as the manuel suggest) Any thoughts?

Leave that original Pirelli spare tire as nothing more than a spare. It is now far too old to trust as an everyday tire on the vehicle. Tires deteriorate even when just riding around in a trunk for a decade or more....

A 10 year old tyre, regardless of the tread depth, is fit for nothing more than emergency use.

I've always followed the advice never to mix brands or tread patterns on an axle but have ignored Jaguar's recommendation to replace all four at a time. Fronts or rears as a pair when required.

If you only replace the rears, make them match the Dunlops. If they (same tread type) are not available, then consider changing all four.

^^

All of what Jon and Graham said ... plus if you only replace one pair, then put the new ones on the rear.
