Top Folding in at corner window / Also - new headliner installed!
Hi everyone -
Some of you might remember my convertible top hydraulic line bursting a couple of weeks ago. I replaced all of the lines and the top is working quite well. The only thing I noticed is that there was a drop of oil by the latch after I cleaned everything up - not sure if it's new but I think it might be residual oil. Everything seems to work as designed. The only thing I'm not sure about is that there is a slight pause after the convertible top unlatches from the body, before it starts to retract the roof all the way. Is that normal?
Regardless, I decided to recover my weeping A pillars and headliner strip. They were getting wavy before the line leaked out, and once the pentosin hit it was game over for the factory glue. I wound up finding some very plush suede headliner that almost matches the factory color. In my opinion, it actually looks much better than the factory headlining. Here are a couple pics:
Hope you guys like it! At a cost of only about $70, I could not pass it up!
Now on to the more pressing issue. When I raise the top, the corner of the convertible catches and folds in by the rear quarter window on the passenger side. Sometimes it works properly, but most of the time it folds, and I have to sit on the passenger side and guide it to the correct position as the top is comming up. Is there some way that I can fix this? As you can see it is starting to eat away at the material there. It also leaves a decent sized gap for water to get in when it doesn't close properly.
Here are some pics - please help!

As for the top operation you will see a slight delay. Keep in mind that in order for the roof to go down it goes through about 6 sequences that the body processor controls.
As for the roof it does seem to be abnormal how it flips back at the window. Has the roof ever been replaced? I do agree with the idea of having a roof person look at it but would like to know what he thinks it is.

I don't think the top has ever been replaced before - but I'm not sure. I know it hasn't been in the last 15,000 miles for sure
I guess it's not a common problem, I was hoping someone would have a fix for it. I will find a convertible expert and report back... I've never had a convertible before so I'm unsure as to which shop to consult. It would probably be best to find an independant Jaguar shop and while it's there I can have them program my second key
