I put down the top today with no issues and went for a drive. This evening when I went to raise the top NOTHING happened. The chime went off but nothing else happened. The pup did not make a single sound. I checked the fuse and it's fine. I switched the up and down relays in the trunk fuse box but still nothing. I raised the roof manually but the quarter windows would not go up. I am starting to wade through the documentation on Jag Repair.com but am still looking for advice on possible faults / fixes ...cheers.

Please note: that I installed the manual latch conversion a couple of years ago and the hoses to the latch mechanism are disconnected. This has worked flawlessly up to this point.

Any advice is appreciated

You obviously know what you’re doing so apologies if I’m stating the obvious.

With the trunk small relays, for the quarter windows, try jumping them, rather than switching them around, and check on the Voltmeter if you have Voltage between both the small contacts and between the larger power pins.

If you have power, I would guess 2 things.

1. Overhead Latch microswitch has gone bad so car cannot tell the top is closed so won’t send signal to the car relays
2. Rear right hydraulic ramp microswitches have gone bad so car can’t tell where the top is

 

Thanks David: I am not really sure what I am doing ,just trying to read stuff and figure it out. I didn't do anything with the window relays at all , I just switched the top up and top down relays to see if that would help. The small windows are not the worst problem ...the top will not go up . The pump does nothing. Will start checking power to relays etc tomorrow. I am thinking that it may be the micro switch in the latch , but will have to check that tomorrow. It's after midnight here now

 

My Icarsoft scanner and one returned code U1041 Vehicle speed invalid or missing data. Does anybody know anything about this code ? I think that if the car is moving past a certain speed the top will not operate....might this be my issue. So far no success with the top.......now just wading through codes , switches , fuses , relays etc.
