You would have a real problem if you needed a tow without the hook !

Correction.

Thread is right handed. Female threads were just gunged-up.

I have to promote a link over at Bob's (motorcarman's) thread in the For Sale section, where he and Tech4jag have some tow hooks (towing eyes) from days in the dealer business that he is offering for a small price to us XK8/R owners (and I think he said he has some s-type or XJ ones also)

Check your emergency kit, and if you're missing it, contact them before they're all gone. I needed mine this last winter (yes, in TX) and I missed a whole day of work due to my car being stuck on a sloping side street w/o any traction.
