Question Towing an XKR

I need to tow my 2000 XKR about 200 miles. Only have access to a tow dolly. Don’t want to tow with rear of car on tow dolly. I understand the driveshaft needs to be disconnected. Can I just disconnect driveshaft at the differential and leave in place? Driveshaft would be supported by the undercarriage cover. Understand the driveshaft and differential need to be marked so when it gets reinstalled both are lined back up.

Thank you for your help.

You are in the wrong XK section here: please go to the X100 section instead.

For X150s: below the center console coin tray, there is a lever which simulteneously disgages:
- the electronic handbrake
- the gearbox, which goes into "neutral"

This way, the X150 can be towed without causing any damage to the drive line.
I am not so sure about longer distances, so please check the instruction manual.

Wondertechy,
When you consider Jaguars own limits about Towing in Neutral (below from owners Manual), then agree that disconnecting the Prop-to-Diff bolts is your best option. Ensure that no part of the prop-shaft is resting on the cables beneath otherwise it will potentially apply the parking brake shoes !
