Default TPS sensor repaired to new

My uncles 4.0 had a failed tps sensor, we used this service, the sensor came back brand new looking and works perfect.

The aftermarket TPS may be similar physically as are quite a few TPSs but as far as I have been able to ascertain they are not electrically compatible. I even went as far as to put down a deposit on having 200 of the 198500-3250 made but the initial tooling cost was USD8000 so the numbers didn't stack. Have a look at this old thread for the tech.spec on the TPS - it's the staggered output that counts from the two pot. tracks. Interestingly the TPS is almost certainly fitted to Toyota/Isuzu/Mazda(although the pin numbering may be different) but I can't tie it to a particular model.https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...acement-77560/

Good catch about the 2 track design. The old post is a good one.

I believe I paid about $350 US to have my TB rebuilt which included more than the TP work.

I think TP Sensors are a ripoff price considering they are just glorified volume controls

They're even more of a rip off when you have to buy the whole throttle body at $2400 as Jaguar won't supply them separately- and to add insult to injury they are a known weak point on the car- Jaguar did covert recalls under warranty in certain markets.

The TPS issue hs been going on for tooooo long. Surely the same innards re used on other vehicles, with perhaps a different electrical and/or mechanical interface. It would not be difficult to deal with the interface issues.
