Default Traction Control Failure Code

I am getting this sporadic code of Tranction Control Failure/Engine Failsafe Mode.

I am pretty sure that I have seen other's experience the same thing.

My problem with this is that even though the manual says the car is driveable it has happened in traffic and is really dangerous.

Sometimes it goes away as quickly as it happens. I have been turning off the ASC button and assuming that I was turning off the traction control and would not have the problem. Today it occurred with the ASC button on off.

I will take it in to get it read at the dealer. I had a similar problem with my wife's Crossfire. The problem is that once the check engine light goes out it is a code in memory and cannot be fixed until it goes out again.

Will I run into the same scenario if when I go to the Jag dealer and it is a memory code only?

This is a 99 XK8 by the way with 37,000 miles as of this morning's commute.

Anyone know the costs to fix the sensor or Heaven forbid the traction control. Since this was an option on my car can it just be disabled?

Thanks

Hopefully it is just dirty ABS sensors. The very intermittent error suggests this.

The consensus is to get your code read at Jag (may have to pay a diagnostic fee though, but worth it). The ABS and other extended codes can't be read by a majority of the code readers in stores and in peoples shops. With the code in hand, you'll have a much better idea of what part is affected, and hopefully, it is as easy as a dirty sensor or wiring harness failure. Its up in the air until you can get the codes read. sorry.

either a c1095 code which is module problem which can be rebuilt or a front link harness failure

iv got a 1095 code and an abs pump with 70.4 ohms, i think the pump is bad!!! Has anyone had any experience with the aftermarket companies rebuilding the ABS modules as seen on sites such as Ebay? I might send one in and use it as a test module.

Well my trip to the dealer was non conclusive. No code stored in memory and nothing detectable in diagnostic. Same story as my Crossfire....if it happens just drive on in and we will see. #$!&*
