Default Tranny Fine But Rebuild With New Engine?

Hello all,

Its been awhile. My 02 XK8 with 202,000+ miles engine failed last year. It has been sitting in the garage waiting for the appropriate funding to do engine, A/C etc.

The tranny was fine when the engine went but while we are screwing around with the engine thought it prudent to pull the tranny and have it looked at and "tuned up" or some such thing as it seems a rebuild is not needed.

Thoughts as to leave it alone it ain't broke or "do this" and "do that" while the engine is out.

Thanks...and if anyone knows of a low mileage engine out there give a holler.

Thanks in advance

If the gearbox has never been serviced, this would be a good time to do it.

It is probably a good idea to replace the A drum with the updated version, easy enough DIY. Several members can supply a list of the parts you'll need.

if you are keeping the car and you have the bucks may as well do it.
