Default Trouble locking doors with just the key.

Hi! New owner of a 2000 XK8 here, I'm having trouble regarding the door locks. I noticed I can't lock the doors without the keyfob. I read in the manual that you can lock both doors by turning the key in the door counter clockwise, but it won't turn. As if something it blocking it. There are plenty of little things wrong with the car I bought so maybe there is another issue causing this?

Possibly just seized up through lack of use as most owner use the remote. The door latch is electrical but the lock, interior and exterior handles can also operate this through mechanical links:

Arrowed RED is the cable link to the interior door handle, BLUE to the exterior handle and GREEN to the lock. Best approach rather than forcing (and possibly breaking something) is to remove the door card and check for freedom of movement on the link rods.

Hi Graham,
Is it reversed with left hand drive cars in the UK? Guess it'd be more about wire hook up than mechanical orientation, but hey you never know.

My 97 unlocks clockwise and hold the key and the windows open and the top lowers. Get some WD-40 soak the lock and open the door and soak the latch. If you are having trouble with the door you might want to check the boot lock and unlock it with the key.

Powdered graphite is a better lubricant for those locks than WD-40 would be....
