Default Trouble starting my 2003 XK8..

Today I went to start my car, and it wouldnt start...no clicking, nothing. Sounded like i didnt turn the key all the way...Gut feeling was the battery was dead, but obviously that wasnt the issue...everything electrical was working. Took a few attempts, but after the 3rd, it started up just fine. Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this?

(i know this is REALLY vague....sorry for the lack of details...)
thanks!

If everything was working on the instruments, battery had plenty of juice, just no starter engagement, most likely due to a neutral safety switch issue. ECU thinks car is not in P or N, and won't allow starter to operate. Giggle the gearshift, shift inti N and try, if you can predict n correct it, solution is obvious.mine did that for several months 2 years ago, no problems since...and I didn't do any repair whatsoever.
