I have a 2001 XKR coupe and what I'm guessing is a push button release is missing from the center of the letters on the back of the trunk/boot lid. Do we have an aftermarket source or dismantler available for parts like this? Thank you, Chip.

The manual trunk release in the XK8 letters isn't a push button, you stick the key in the hole between the X and the K.
The (electrical) release button is in the middle of the chrome bar on the rear of the trunk. FYI, if this ever fails, check wires where they bend at the trunk lid hinge. Mine broke there.

Thanks gentlemen, mine is missing the entire growler and spring. Looks like I'll check Welsh Enterprise.

That push button is common to a lot of models.

Here's a brand new one on ebay

I thought the 2001 models didn’t have the push-button. My old 2000 didn’t. I believe that was one of the revisions that came with the 4.2 engine. What you should have is a body colored boot plinth on top of the license plate with no button on it.

Your boot release is to stick a key between the X and the K and then twist right, or use the dash button to the side of the steering wheel.

You can, however, acquire a later version boot plinth, either chrome or body colored and the growler button and wire it to work.

Mine does have the keyhole in the emblem...as we discovered two hours into pulling the rear seat to access the dead battery while the car was eight foot off the ground on a car hauler on a narrow two lane blacktop in front of my house. It did have the growler in the center of the Jaguar emblem on the trunk lid. I thought something was missing, then when I checked out a 2001 XK8 convertible, I realized what was missing.

Thank you Rothwell! I just took the time to install it, my growler now works to release the boot lid. I had to epoxy the fasteners back into the plinth since the nuts were all corroded to them and twisted out of the space age polymer the plinth is made of.
