Default Vertical play in steering wheel?

I have about 1/4" of vertical slop in the steering wheel, figure this is most likely an issue with the tilt motor? Anyome have this issue and is there a documented fix? I didnt see it in the how-to's. Thanks!

I have noticed that my wheel ends up with some vertical travel after I fiddle with the position controls. I don't remember the travel being that much though. If I fiddle with the position again it goes away. I don't use the Auto position feature so it stays put.

Have not yet bothered to determine the cause. It is curious for sure.

There's a nut that compresses a spring under the steering column, it needs to be tightened. Easy fix. It's been covered in the forum, do a search

Mine has about 1/4" movement if it's not full up or full down. Drives me crazy as I keep my wheel about mid travel. Took everything apart to see what's what and it looks like a worn bushing to me. When the wheel is full up or down it rests on the assembly so it doesn't move.

Any repair info and I'm in!
