XKR Limited Editions?
Hi all,
I am having difficulty finding the right XKR for me.
been looking at a few online and then i come across a few special or limited editions like the 100 or silverstone.
but looking into the 100 edition for example they should all be anthacite? (dark grey) but all the ones i have seen have been platinum silver??
did they come in both colours??

Welcome to the forum Calicoaty,
One of the best guides you will find to the XK8/XKR and the specification of the limited editions is:
You & Your Jaguar XK/XKR by Nigel Thorley - Veloce Publishing 2015
The original title by the same author on the XK8 published in 2006 is out of print and becoming very expensive if you can find a copy. This new revised edition has all the content of the original and has been expanded to cover both the XK8/XKR and the later XK/XKR.
If you are seriously considering purchasing an XK8/XKR, the FAQ's at the top of the threads have a lot of useful information on regular issues.

The limited editions are discussed here from time to time. The general concensus is that although desireable, they don't necessarily command a higher price than the equivalent standard model.

I think you need to narrow you question down to model year(s).
The XKR was introduced in 2000MY and ran through to end of production in 2005. There were considerable changes thoughout this period not the least of which were a larger engine and different transmission.
I've had a 2001 and a 2005 which were two entirely different cars with major mechanical and significant body differences.

From reading online and internet searches they were available from 1998? or was that just the XK8's that people are advertising incorrectly.
I am after one of the earlier ones post 2000 anyway.
but to save me searching all the net what are the main changes they did over the time?

Let me share a brochure from 2006 that mentions some features from the Victory Edition. I hope it helps.

In the U.S the car to have is one of the 31 2000 Silverstone coupes. I have both the Silverstone DHC and Coupe and love them both. All U.S. Silverstone's were Silver (platinum) over black and manufactured in calendar year 2000 but they are registered as 2001's. The XKR 100 is available as a coupe and DHC and is black metallic over black and were sold in the U.S. as 2002's. Both these cars can be a little bit expensive to maintain so perhaps a 2006 coupe may be another wonderful alternative, in the states we had the Victory limited addition that celebrated the XKR's championships in the Trans-Am series. Hope this helps!

I have a 2006 Victory Edition, XK8 convertible - Not a XKR. Mine is Copper Black, which turns out to be just a beautiful color and I didn't think I would love it as much as I do. The car has the Ivory interior and the light wood dash.
I live in Los Angeles, so a 2006 Jag is not a standout car. But when this car is clean, it gets compliments from other drivers all the time.
I think the Victory Edition included the light wood, an all leather steering wheel, different shifter Knob, Chrome shifter bezel, Chrome Door Sills, 19" chrome rims.

I have a 2006 XKR convertible, Victory Edition. My first Jag was a 2005 XK8, and I sold it to upgrade to the XKR. Mine is just black (not the special copper black), with a black interior. I personally wasn't a fan of the light interior mixed with carbon fiber that came with the copper black XKR, hence my choice of black-on-black. My car has the 20" BBS "Perseus" wheels- optional on the VE cars, and interior has the carbon fiber dash panels which came on all VE XKRs I think. There is contrasting white stitching and piping on the floor mats. Exterior-wise, differences include darker tail lights and special badging.
Obviously I'm biased, but I feel the VE is the best of the "Special Editon" X100s in the states, as both the Silverstone and the 100 had the earlier 4.0 and timing chain issues to deal with. The VE also has the ZF 6 speed. 100 might have this- not sure. Silverstone is a 5 speed. You also get the refreshed front/rear fascia and lower side skirts on the VE compared to the earlier cars.
However, the Silverstone and 100 cars are lower production numbers than the VE cars.
