Default vvt solenoid

I have a 99 xk8 and I am reinstalling the vvt solenoids. There were no o rings on either of them when I removed them but it looks like there is an o ring groove at the top of them and it seems like they would need one to seal. Can anyone tell me if it is supposed to have one? Thanks in advancevvt solenoid-solenoid.jpg

There are O rings in the valve covers which seal the VVT solenoid - do you mean those?

No the one in the middle of the solenoid just under the mount bracket.

I apologize for wasting everyones time. Mine are the ones that go through the valve cover and are sealed that way. Thanks again
