Default Washer Reservoir Leak

Just had an odd leak in the washer reservoir. The pump sits in a rubber bush in the reservoir housing near the bottom, held in place by gravity. This bush had somehow begun to leak, leaving a puddle of fluid under the left front bumper. The bush is available separately for $5 from the Dealer. It requires loosening the left front wheel liner and lower shroud to get at it. Just lift the pump up, it just sits in the bush from gravity and held in place by its suction tube, then replace the bush and push the pump back into the bush.

Default Washer Reservoir Leak

When I bought my '01 XK8 I filled the washer Reservoir and it leaked all over the driveway. I thought that I would need a new one. I went into the left front wheel liner and lowered the shroud. There is a rubber hose that enters the washer reservoir about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom. I readjusted that rubber hose and applied a thin layer of clear plastic glue over it. The leak stopped and I have not had any trouble since. Ron

I had two separate leaks! One as you describe around the pump and one around the big fat inlet pipe near the top. I repaired the lower leak using the kind of latex tape you use to seal household tap leaks and the second using a liberal amount of gutter sealant. Just to be on the safe side, I now also just fill the reservoir about half way up (approx. 2.5 litres), so that the liquid sits just below the inlet pipe.

These kinds of problem are annoying on such a luxury vehicle. Honestly, how much extra would it have cost Jaguar to do things properly?
