Default What is this?

What is the part arrowed in the photo called? This is not a photo of mine, it should be chrome as shown but for some reason mine has rusted so I need to replace it but I don't know what it is. There is no rust anywhere else just this part but when I lift the bonnet(hood) I can't see beyond it, lets down the whole engine bay.

It's an exceptionally well detailed engine bay - SHAME IT'S NOT YOURS.

I've never had the SC version so I'll leave it to those who do to identify the part in question.

That is the fuel check valve. It holds fuel in the Rail when engine off – but not under full pressure. It’s purpose is to reduce work for the fuel pump priming the system when you turn ignition on.

Fuel check valve, thanks for the info, I now know what to look for.
Is there anything to be aware of or is it simply a straight swap over to change this?

That is the fuel line connection to the fuel rail. The 4.2L has a single ended fuel system so there is no return line, just this one pipe coming from the tank.

The check valve to prevent fuel draining back when the car isn’t running is built into the pump assembly and in the tank.

And that is an amazingly good looking engine bay. There isn’t even any paint worn off the high points on the intercoolers, which I can say I have never seen before.

Has this car ever been started?

Yes, I drive it most days but I do spend a lot of time cleaning it.

Only joking, I take no credit, it's not mine I found it in the google machine thingy, it does look like new though.
