Default What does everyone do for radar detectors in the XK's

I am just wondering since the only cigarette lighter, is all the way by the cup holders and most radars cords wont make it that far and you wouldn't want it to be stretched that far either. So that's why i was wondering what people do as far as radars in their xk's.

What do we do for power connections? I haven't hardwired mine yet, but a previous owner creatively installed/hardwired a power point on the passenger side of the center console hidden behind the carpet. So my cord wraps under the glovebox then 'disappears'. It works well.

In the convertible it is fairly easy to run the wiring through the back of the overhead console, across the inside of the header and down the passenger "A" pillar. You can then fish it through the end of the dash by the fuse box and underneath the dash to the center console. I connected my radar detector via a fused power tap on the cigarette lighter leads underneath the console ( I also power my Sirius radio and phone charger via fused taps). Very tidy and trouble free, I've run this set up for 7 years.

On my 2001, I used the power feed socket for the accessory outlet behind the Glove Box and brought the cables for both Parrot BlueTooth and combined SatNav/Radar Detector out in the gap between the top of the Centre Console and the Dash.

The bracket is a 'Brodit' with the SatNav mounting clip attached.

Default Radar and laser

I have a top of the line Escort front and rear system that is permanently installed in the car. The front part hides behind the grill and the rear mounts at the top of the rear license plate. It works great, but today's instant-on radar, typically used in trooper's cars while moving is really stealthy. Any radar detector that goes off as it detects one of those things is just informing you that you are about to get a ticket (if you are speeding). Most motorcycle and stationary police speed traps use laser. I use the Blinder laser jammer and parking assist system. Of course, I only use the laser jammer while driving on private roads. It works! When using a Blinder, you basically CAN'T get a laser based speeding ticket. Of course, if you were to forget that you left the laser jamming system on while driving on a public road, you can quickly switch it over to the parking assist mode for easy parking curb detection. I have the infra red emitters mounted above each front bumper cover as seen here:
