Default What gas to Use

I seem to recall seeing a recommendation in one of the manuals. that hi-test gasoline be used in my 1998 XK8. Any experience and/or other comments appreciated.

My factory “VEHICLE CARE” manual says 91 octane or higher. I believe there is a sticker on the gas cap lid also.

PS: the manual is not XK8 or XKR specific, so that requirement would apply to both cars.

PPS: I’ve been filling up the gas tank when I’ve used about 12-14 gallons with the cost being somewhere in the $70-$80 range. Not really paying too much attention to it, as it’s my daily driver, and it costs what it costs to operate the car. I knew it going in that gas consumption was going to be high, and all things considered it’s still a bargain for all the enjoyment I get out of it.

Still , I’m pretty PO’d at Putin for the hurt he’s put on the world. Many are affected way more than me and my little economic hit. So no complaints.

I just hope the SOB gets what he deserves someday soon.

I have been using E10 in my car with no problems.

I generally use 100% gasoline when in my hometown.

But not always easy to find when going cross country, in which case I get 91 octane or higher E-10 and don’t worry about it.

Aside from slightly worse gas mileage I don’t see any difference in performance.

If I had to buy less than the recommended 91 I wouldn’t be too concerned. The computer will adjust the timing to suit the lower octane gas.
