Default What might I miss?

I've had quite the difficulties communicating and working with the local Jag dealership. My 1999 XK8 went in there on a restricted mode problem. They diagnosed it to need new spark plugs (stating the ones on my poor baby were nonspec), new chain tensioner work - which includes changing coolant (shoot I should have asked, but I assumed they flush the radiator when they change this ), and oil change - oh and a new battery.

Might there be anything that I should inquire about or ask if they checked that you might think would be relevant or helpful to have done while going about all this

Or, of course, what you believe I should do as follow up or keep an eye out for as potential problem if something was overlooked with this work.

I'll post as I drive and/or have more done. I'm on a mission to get Ms Jiggy back in tip top shape and this is only the beginning. I just don't want to be caught unaware or be experiencing something only to hear... oh yeah, didn't you know?!

Wish me luck!

Can't wait til I'm cruisin feeling carefree again

Sandy

Hi Sandy,
If it hasn't already been done and depending on your financials, you should upgrade the water pump and thermostat with housing at the same time.

I would find a good indy shop as a more economical alternative....

You may get more accurate troubleshooting advice as well....

+1. Sounds like the dealer was slinging parts at it. What tensioner work did they do (or suggest to get done)? If your battery was truly weak it could have been the cause of the restricted codes and others.

Take a look at the DIY Sticky on the main page. It has a section on what to look for as common issues on the XK8s.
