What are my chances removing side rub strips??
I really want to remove the rub strips and now!!
I know they're just held on with tape but what are the chances I can get them off, remove the adhesive, and not see a ghost line on the side???
Any advice???
AND, is there a way to tell if any of the panels have been painted over? I'd hate to remove only to find there was a repaint or something showing two different blacks!!

Hi Phil,
Some members have already done this.
Borrow your wife's hair drier and warm them up, and then, using a piece of thin fishing line, start at one end and work toward the other in a sawing motion against the strip and away from the panel.
What remains will come off easily with a suitable solvent.
Then use a compound across the whole panel to match it in.
Prior to this, to check for respray, have a look along the edge to see if you can see any raised or peeling clear coat.
I think these cars look so much better without these strips but thats just my opinion.
Hope this helps,

When I got mine it was the first thing to go. Do everything that Jim mentioned, but start with the small one on each fender that will let you know if it's been touched up. Many shops will touch up road rash and paint up to the door guards, not removing them. this will leave a paint line. starting with the small trim on the front fender will give you a good idea whether it was. Goo Gone will soften the remains of the adhesive left behind. Good Luck
