Default What is O-ring size …..

What is the O-ring size for the O-rings on the full load breather on the 4.0 XK8/XKR’s ?

I’d like to order some O-rings and them in hand before I take the old ones off if possible .

does not appear that https://www.sngbarratt.com/us sells them separately from the breather hose.

also, anyone know the O-ring size for the oil dipstick ?

Thanks.

Sorry Z:
I was thinking PART LOAD instead of FULL LOAD but this may still apply:

Hello Z:
I hope that you have better luck than I did finding the proper size.
But if not, I replaced mine probably 5-6 years ago. It was so minor that I did not log it in my records. I found an O-ring with a slightly larger OD and sanded it down (probably over some sort of mandrel chucked in my hand drill), then lubed it with silicon grease. I do not, and have not for some time, had a P0171/P0174 code. I think that you know to be careful with that brittle plastic breather hose assembly.

For my birthday this year I went to Harbor Freight and bought $100 worth of just random crap to have around. One of the items I bought was this:

https://www.harborfreight.com/180-pi...kit-67525.html

I believe having sets like this is nice; and this should have one that fits your dipstick tube! The breather hose ones I think are larger and they sell kits at Harbor Freight for those too; but check based on heat requirements if they work for your breather hoses; the oil dipstick one I'd want the Viton though.

Is Viton the best available o-ring material for heat (and oil) resistance ?

Best, im not sure. However, they claim 400 degrees and chemical resistant. I've never had issues using them in these type applications. The thing I use the orings the most for are AC system leaks and in the years I've kept vehicles since I have not had recurrence of failure.

Thanks for the tips. I’m going to get a viton o-ring assortment from Amazon.

it’s becoming a pet peeve of mine that many o- rings are not available from our trusted Jag vendors. Although they do have the oil cooler o-rings, I’ve struck out on trying to source Jaguar OEM o-rings for other parts like the air flow mass sensor, full load breather, dip stick, etc ad infinitum…..

Z

PS I had to purchase a quantity of 50 o-rings to get the right size for the air mass sensor. If anyone needs one send me (PM) your address and I’ll give some away.

I have always been able to source whatever O-ring size I need at our local NAPA store. They have hundreds of sizes at several different grades of quality (the best being for HVAC repairs)....

The o-ring selection at my local NAPA is not as good, the o-rings they do have are all too fat in cross-section.
