Default What are they?

On the passenger side close to the seat back and near the quarter window are two mesh grills (US '03 XK8 convertible). I'm not finding them in the Manual. What are they for?
I'm guessing that the circular grill on the passengers windshield A pillar is phone related but the purpose of the two small mesh grills adjacent to a passengers right shoulder eludes me.

You will notice that there is a similar mesh on the center console.

They are all ultrasonic sensors for the airbag system to detect if people are in the seat. If you get close (and your ears are good) you should hear a faint clicking noise.

And I hope that, other than curiosity, you never need to investigate them further!

Here is the passenger one removed from my 2005 XK8 when I was having SRS (Supplementary Restraint System) issues with a permanent Airbag warning illuminated.

What are they?-dsc_0088.jpg

Turned out to be a fried module and not one of the occupancy sensors.
