Welcome to the forum mctb, I've moved your post to the correct section.
Don't forget to post an intro in the new members section.

For help with the tensioners check out the "How To" section for some excellent links https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ts-data-29800/

Welcome

There's a ton of material here on the tensior job, including part #'s, where to buy, and exact play-by-play steps. Just holler if you need some help. Most of us with 4.0's have been through it.

I don't think the VVT solenoids are likely to be a problem. They do click when operating, but not very loud.

Welcome MCTB, I am just taking a break, doing the secondary tensioners today. so far so good, thankfully I didn't remove the spark plugs yet as I dropped a 7mm socket down the hole. geeeez that was close! the complete instruction are in the DIY repair and maintenance section under XK8/XKR or just use the search function. it's all there

Hi and welcome to the forum and congrats on the purchase of the big cat!!!
I am doing the same job as you and if you check " The refurb begins " post you will get a good idea of how far I have got on with the job. If you look in the stickies there is an excellent review of how to do the job by EZdriver https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ics-how-52653/ .
If you are unsure of anything or want a bit of advice on how I am doing it just post in the refurb thread and I will try and help.
I would start with the drivers side as I found it easiest.

Best of luck,

Arty
