Wheel stud
Got a thread crossed and let the airgun destroy it I'll bet. I believe we are supposed to tell anyone who swaps our rims/tires that they must be re-bolted and tightened by hand...not by airgun.
But seriously....you can't just knock out the stud and replace it??

It's a screw-in stud. Long time since I've changed one but they used to be splined.

Discount Tire was overzealous on removing the wheel nut.
Repair shop said it is splined on and they can't remove it.
Called Gaudin Jag in Las Vegas. Mark says they are not available any longer.

as a matter of fact, I request no air guns on my wheels for either removal or install. If he doesn't give me a look of disgust or a heavy sigh, I usually tip the guy. After all, I cost him 2-3 minutes per wheel.
Well, I just learnt sumthin' new today....screw-in studs. Yeah, I'll bet those are tough to get out when fairly new, much less after 15 years. And, what's the bite on a new/replacement hub?
Tell 'em you just replaced your FW bearings and need a NEW hub. To be honest, DT has always been the best to me and my family, and I hate to see them bite it for a dumb mistake....buuuut.....

Which store?
BTW: those are interesting wheels you've got on your cat. Chrome Torque Thrust II's? I'm looking for real wires or a LeMans style "mesh", but the only thing I find that might work is BMW E39 in 17".

On early XKs they were screw in studs, this is in the day when the bearings were 75mm and the hubs were cast, on the later cars they were billet hubs (80mm bearings) and the splined studs were used, the screw in studs are peened over at the back to stop them coming undone, but with a lot of air gun use they will come loose.
It is possible to fit splined studs into the older hubs, I have done it a few times but you will have to drill the holes out to a slighlty bigger size

Thanks to everyone for the replies.
Oldjaglover, I believe the wheels are E T Classic Fives based on the ET stamped on the back. I am putting on Coventry Hornets.
The local shop is billing DT direct at adiscount.

Visited the shop (The Mechanic Man in Salt Lake) this morning. They considered XKR's method of removing the stud and boring out to fit a pressed in stud. They said they tried it before but galded the hole? so decided against it. They had the replacement hub. It has pressed in studs. They will be installing on Monday.
Ouch!
I expect there may be some staff training at the tyre shop now.
You might want to edit the document to take your details out? I've done it for you, hope that's OK?
