Aggresive over the top is the way of the world these days. Just wait till everything gets turned up to 11! (Spinal Tap for those who didn't catch the reference).

I get way more attention in the Jag, then ever in my Mercedes Benz.Totally shocking attention.

Everyone is riding around in the BENZES now, so i had to stand out from that.

But the Jaguar exclusively stands out from the crowd, our cars get a whole lot of attention and respect in similar to Lamborghini, Rolls Royce and Aston Martins.

In the local business club, millionaires park their cars and unload their luggage..

The butler escorts them around the city in A JAGUAR,

I agree, Philhef, I'd like to see everyone's cat on a scroll through thread.

Meanwhile, the pics in signatures help. Eye candy each time I check out a thread.

And?! Like?! Is an understatement...

I'd say, this car just plain suits me.

Trips me out to think I was attracted to it way back when I was 18 (almost bought an XKE, but went the more practical way with a new - rather than older vehicle - American made Camaro). Who knew 20 or so years later, I'd be biting at the bit again and pull the trigger to buy the updated XK8?

Lovin' every minute of it - and I've had tons of those since the purchase about 10 years ago.

After reading the other posts, I thought, I just mentioned to someone recently. My car isn't just transportation (although it's my daily driving machine), it's my passion.

I realized everyone has some hobby or type of interest they 'invest' in - spend their discretionary cash on. All these years I thought, I should have a hobby... LOL

Now I realize. My passion is my Jag. I'm happy driving it, looking at, taking care of it.

How many things in life can make one smile just by being near?! Well, ok, there's plenty of that -- I'm happy to include my car in the list. Up quite high on the list, I might add.

Pretty much since owning it, I've noticed my circle of friends and family don't share this type of enthusiasm, but they get it about me and my car. I think it brings them some smiles, too. Just by sharing the joy of it!

I hope today was one of those days for you that include having some great moments with your beautiful car.

Sandy

It ranks right up there with Harley-Davidson and Jeep owners. "If I have to explain it, you just wouldn't understand."

It's always cool when I see a new (any year) XK8 in my town. I always think I've seen them all then once in a rare while, I'll spot another one! I think there's 4 so far here.
Oddly though, you'd think my fellow owners would flash lights, wave or at least smile to acknowledge another XK, but more often, nothing!! I did stop and talk to the one victory owner I saw. He was in the way to sell it!! I'd LOVED to have had it!! Argh!!

Philhef. Great to hear others feel similarly. That's why I love gatherings with fellow enthusiasts, especially Jag fans!

Appreciate hearing that from ya,

Sandy

No way, Philhef!

Hard to believe you don't see the recognition from other Jags as you pass.

I, too, love when I spot one of 'us' while cruisin. It always perks me up - sometimes speeds me up so I can get a closer look. LOL

While on my drive into work - which is a pleasant country, windy road - I saw another XK8 coming at me. First time on that road! I gave a quick finger wag toward him (since I had the top down) and thought his smile was a good enough response.

Prior to that occurrence I was on a multi-lane, cars buzzing/speeding all around highway when what did I see coming up on me? A newer black XK8. Love seeing that in the rearview!

I had to move into a lane nearer - pace for a bit. And, of course, check out how smooth their ride was getting through the traffic.

That'll make a few miles go by quickly, eh?

It has curves on places where most other cars don't have places!

Every time I go to my garage, or go through my garage, it is there. Like the XKE, the MKII, and other Jags, it has unsurpassed beauty from every angle. I am 10 again. Even from the inside it looks good when you driving!

But, I am sure it is sitting in my garage right now plotting against me; plotting because I have a daily driver that is diesel, plotting because I may take the other two wheel GT for a ride; plotting because it wants to be the center of everything, and plotting to bankrupt me. Would I sell it? No, it is the only mistress I am allowed to keep and want to keep.

JSC. I loved your post!

You are right, I am often saying it's the curves. What other vehicle do you see something like that in?

'Even from the inside it looks good when you driving'

And, thank you -- I hadn't come up with that line, but I agree!

Appreciate your perspective,

Sandy

Sandy,
I echo you sentiments. I have never passed or met an XK that didn't wave. One guy almost ran into me making a turn. Other Jags not so much. Surprised I haven't seen our twin cars. I'll be in Dublin on Thanksgiving. Maybe I'll see you on the 680.

OMG!! You are SOO right!! My two Jaguars have such sibling rivalry that if I don't drive them equally, they start to mis behave!! But my XK8 if the favorite child!! The XF is starting to have gremlins in the touchscreen control area and much of it is not warranted!! If it keeps it up, I'm headed to a Lincoln MKZ hybrid! Then the XK8 can rule the roost!!

So, my 2 cents finally; In 38 years of owning a car, I guess I only detailled them prior to selling at best.

With my XK8 (referred to as 'age related adapted transportation' by my friends) something strange has happened; I started cleaning it in the first week after purchase, waxing it after a month and again and again.

Neighbours wonder what's happened with me, wifey tells me she does not need that much attention since she already is beautiful, and I get a strange satisfaction of making a pretty car look best she can.

This fall I've started to discover real detailling as a skill; Am now even removing some deep scratches by filling them with paint and than wetsanding it to near invisible; Lots of therapy for almost free, and all because of the magic beauty. It must be some mystic spell coming from the car, because I am not like this at all!

So in the last year I discovered 2 colleages with an XK8/R. They love their cars equally, but do not seem as possesed as I am; Won't see them on the Forum either. So me and my car are special...

Took my daughter to the airport today and the wife, daughter and luggage all made the trip, so we drove the daughter's 3-series BMW sedan. Went to and from the airport and I took it today to get a tire replaced (nail damage).

The little bimmer handles really well and is very responsive. It is rated as the car to beat in its class and I will admit it's a great car. But as soon as I finished the tire errand I parked it and got in the blue cat.

There is no comparison. I know they are not the same class of car, but they are worlds apart in terms of which I would want to drive. I have had several Audis of my own, so I do know german cars, but gimme my Jag. No contest on which I would take for any drive longer than to the gas station. OK really any drive.

So many great cars, but I agree, Mike - really - any drive, I'd prefer my Jag. <chuckling>

Hey keestanis. I enjoyed your post.

You mentioned you get a strange satisfaction of making a pretty car look best she can.

That's what I've told family & friends forever. Something along the lines of she's SO gorgeous I can't stand by and see her anything less than her best! I figure treat your possessions well and if anything has a beauty - show some respect and let it shine!

'Lots of therapy for almost free and all because of the magic beauty.' I liked the sound of that.

'It must be some mystic spell coming from the car' For sure, if you are a fan, these cars cast a spell.

'me and my car are special... ' Totally!

Enjoy every minute of it.

Sandy
