I am just to install new guides and I see they are not the same...new ones are longer and holes are reversed/opposite - will it work to install them upside down to original...and will they be too long..got the part from SNG Barrat?

 

Nope they won't work. Getting the wrong guide is not uncommon when buying the full kit. Contact your supplier and they can swap it out. The longer one will interfere with the upper gear. I think it is the difference between the AJ26 and AJ27 engine.

What do you say to these tensioners...I know they have changed - but the top one looks like it will go to low...and the bottom tensioner looks like the houisng is a little back...and I know they aren't activated;-)

 

They will pop out to where they need to be once the pin is pulled. There were no part number changes for them between the AJ26 and AJ27. All the 4.0 liter engines are the same part.

 

The later engines that use the SILENT RUNNING CHAINS use the aluminum frame guides.
All early engines with the roller chains use the wider blades/guides.
