Default Wind Screen Wiper wont wipe - RESOLVED

Good Day to you all,
My XK8 drivers side windscreen wiper wants to move, but doesnt go up the screen. Passenger side is just fine.
When observing the windscreen wiper, there is movement on the blade rubbers, but it will not go up the screen.
Any advice please ?
Kind Regards,
Alan

Welcome to the forums Alan,

The twin wiper system is driven by a single motor mounted on a bracket below the plenum cover on the driver's side. Jaguar only list it as a complete assembly.

The usual failure is the bush on the end of the arm. These can be sourced separately from aftermarket parts specialists for some models and repair kits appear on the likes of ebay but I haven't needed to replace a Jaguar one. However, other members are likely to have replaced or repaired the wipers and will have better information.

Graham

Is the wiper bolt tight because mine likes to go slack for some reason and does what you describe. Just position it where you want it to rest and tighten it up.

Hi Gents,
Many thanks for the very quick responses. I shall look at the bush and wiper bolt - sounds logical that one. Good to know its one motor and with the passenger side working, rules out that component.
Will at least try/observe those two first and report back.
Kind Regards,
Alan

Hi Kuddlesworth,
I had a quick look - the wiper is incredbly loose ! I think that is the answer. Apologies for a newbie question, but where is bolt to tighten it ? Do i have to take the black cap off the wiperarm to access the bolt to tighten it ?
Kind Regards,
Alan

There is a cap at the base of the wiper arm, remove the cap and under that is a bolt. Loosen it so you can move it to the rest position and then tighten it up all nice like. No question is ever a noob question.
