Window problem
I have a problem with the rear quarter light on my XKR convertible. The passenger side quarter light window does not raise fully when the top is closed, and as far as I can see, cannot be reset independently. When the roof is lowered it goes down normally, and when the roof is closed it raises normally, but stops short just of full closure. All the other windows work normally. I know how to reset the front windows. Would resetting these have any bearing on the rear quarter lights?
Any ideas anyone?

I have the same issue with my 1/4 lite on the LHS, it also never goes all the way to the top to make a good seal. I also am looking for ideas/suggestions to fix, for me it's just a weekend fun car so my current fix is, I don't drive it in the rain!!

I've been putting off an adjustment that is needed to get rid of a gap between the passenger window and the quarter window--the gap is not in-plane but rather out-of-plane (quarter window is more outboard than the passenger window). I played around with the main window a bit but this did not help much and getting to the adjustments on the quarter window looks like a PITA. So I am putting together a list of things to do on the car just before my aftermarket warranty runs out and will try and get this, and other things, taken care of at the same time.

Well, I have resolved the problem, which I think must have been due to rust in the window guide channels. I squirted about half a can of wd40 into the channels - without dismantling, and then, while a friend operated the roof switch, wiggled the window backwards and forwards several times. It went a little further up each time, and finally after a couple of days, all the way back up again. Just in time for the heavy rain forecast for tomorrow!
This is for BT Bob1:

Bob, this sounds an awfull lot like an incident I had, thoug it jammed lower than 2 inches. There is a loos bolt inside the door pannel. This bolt secures the rear end of the arm lifter assembly. When it gets loose the rear rises under the pressure of the arm lift and the window goes out of alignment. DO NOT force it (I did bad memory) the window can break like mine did. Then you're out $400 for a used window, or only $1400 for a new one. Take the inside door pannel off (it is a much easier job than you think - ask for directions if you like). See the two bolts (front and rear) holding the lift assembly about 2/3 or 3/4 of the way up the door and runs front to back inside the door. The nut in the rear should not move as the window raises/lowers. If it does that's your problem. Lower window, tighten bolt. raise and check alignment. If the bolt is tightened in the wrong position, when raised the front window will not parrellel the rear quarter window's edge (and you will have an air leak). John

Hi Bee, I tend to think the travel of these windows are pre fixed by tracks and adjustment. Clutches in the motor may stop the travel as well. I may be wrong, however when up as far as the wondow will go try to grab the glass, see if you have any movement. May have had the regulator or pwr window motor loosen up. A little tighten may all you need. Rich
