I have a 98 XK8 convertible. The windshield wipers will run on occasion by themselves sometimes stopping for a few seconds before returning. I have also had the lights, headlights and running lights turn off at night for a minute and then return to normal. I am thinking its a ground issue. Any help on this? Which ground if thats the problem.

 

yikes, that's a tough one. I've never chased a ground, but there are a few on the car, to which one the lighting system is connected, I cannot direct you to. Hopefully, with a bump, someone else can chime in.

 

on the basis of the sign you have mentioned, i can switch that it signs the bad, damaged or loose Ballast.

 

I ran it on a diagnostic machine and it came up with the internal park switch in the wiper motor is bad and should be linked to the lights issue. Im going to replace it and go from there. Thanks for responding I will update if it fixes the problem when I get it changed this weekend.

 

We used to get small groups of 'wiper stalk' failures, so keep that in mind if you come up empty on the wiper motor, which I've never heard before.
