WNC British Car Show pics
Howdy Folks:
Yesterday was beautiful in Hendersonville NC. Surprisingly, I tied for 2nd place with a 1953 Jag C Type vintage racer partly due to last minute class changes.(Class 5 Jaguar Others)
Strange thing was that this C-type owner had jokingly earlier in the day accused me of "stealing" his one owner 2002 XKR as they were identical.
First in my class was a 76 XJC V12.
Best of show went to an XK140 Roadster.
On the lighter side we enjoyed the company of a well known, spry, just turned 90 year old lady (Madeline) that entered her 1973 V12 XKE Roadster!
It was a great day that my wife and I ended with dinner at Larkin's on Lake Lure.

Congrats on the prize! I have always wondered about how difficult it might be to win something in those local types of car shows. I have been "accused" by friends and acquaintances of keeping my cars overly pristine even though all have been daily drivers. I never think that I am doing anything special but most of the time with my past and present cars they look better next to another similar car. When I had my 1995 Corvette it was the same way--always well kept but nothing special to my thinking so it never occurred to me to enter the car in local contests. Then after selling it in 2010 the new owner entered the car at his company contest (Lockheed) and won first prize for best looking performance car. I felt proud even though I no longer owned it.
So back to my original question. How good did your car have to look to win the prize? Is it one of those shows where they look to see that all the screws are aligned in the same direction or is it more casual/sensible?
Thanks,
Doug

It was great conversation with interesting people.
I tried showing off my new remote top controller but the 96 Up XK audience just was not there. I did have some fun with some kids that acted as though my car was possessed.
Even those with high $ rides just seemed to be there for some casual fun.
I enjoyed getting ready for the show but I was not at all determined to win. I will leave that for the participants of Pebble Beach, Amelia Island, or such.
