I have a 2006 XKR with 46k miles. Purchased the car used in 2009 with 22K miles. Ever since then, 4-5 times/ year, after I have been driving for a while then turn the car off, if I try to start it the dash lights up and there is all sorts of buzzes and clicks in the car but the starter won't engage. Sometimes I simply turn the key off and try it again and it starts up right away. Other times, usually when my wife is in the car, it won't start for 2-5 minutes, then starts as if nothing is wrong. Never happens first thing when the car is cold. I have had the local dealer and two local shops look at it - but of course if never does this when they have the car and they can find no computer codes that are relevant. I have had the key chip replaced, the exciter ring replaced, new battery etc to no avail. I have been told I may have a faulty ground connection but otherwise no one seems to know what to do about this. any ideas? Wife is beginning to refuse to drive with me, and to be fair I have stranded her in the middle of nowhere twice with my Fiat 124 Spider years ago. Any advice appreciated!

I presume your battery is good since you say you have changed it.
-Check both battery posts to be clean, tight and make good contact.
-Both leads from battery may detoriate over time, especially the positive one. This is hard to see as this cable is insulated.
-Main fuses in trunk (the big ones) may have to be taken out, cleaned, sprayed with electrical cleaner and replaced.
