Default X100 Leaking air compressor (green fluid)

Currently changing my cam tension etc 1996 X100.
Found the air compressor is covered in green fluid (see picture).
Assume I've got a leaking seal somewhere.
Access is pretty good at the moment with the fans out etc.
Can someone point me in the right direction for possible issues and fixes.
Much appreciated.

That is typically the sign indicating that you need a new compressor. If you are fortunate you may be able to find an A/C service shop in your area that can refurbish your existing compressor....

By the way, the green color is due to the green dye in your refrigerant charge that helps to detect system leaks....

Default Green fluid is probably coolant

Well, green fluid is normally coolant (BTW Purists say that the Jag should be using Orange/red HOAT coolant).

Check the coolant tank to make sure. Any sign of engine oil creamy mess in the tank?

If coolant is green, start checking all the cooling hoses. Start with the hoses to radiator and then to the cross over to thermostat tower. Worst case if it’s the water pump.

If you have orange coolant, then you’ve got some real strange funky fluids in your car. Start checking all the reservoirs (Brake, Power steering, even the washer bottle) to identify the fluid leaking. Might be leaking at the power steering (APS) high pressure hose to the APS pump. Crimps here are known to fail.

Thanks for the advise, the coolant is red so pretty sure is the aircon.
Will do more investigation and try to trace the leak.

Could be either green coolant (the early spec coolant was green) or dyed PAG oil leaking from the compressor.

Does it feel oily or watery?

Also check the power steering fluid. It is supposed to be red ATF, but the mineral oil for German cars is green. Because of the presence of a cooler, the lines go across the front of the engine and are a common source of leaks. Easy enough to check.
