XJ8 Extreme cold weather running

Hi,
I have a standard uk spec 1998 xj8 3.2. The average temp in winter here in Edinburgh Scotland is 0 degrees centigrade. I'm moving the car to Tampere Finland where the average winter temp is -15 centigrade. Most Finnish cars have electric engine pre-heaters for cold weather running. Retro fitting this type of kit is expensive and I don't particularly want to. Plus I believed Jaguar tested there cars down to -40 centigrade without any pre-heaters fitted. However I can't find any info about these tests now.
Does any one out there have experience of running these cars regularly at these type of cold temps without engine pre heaters and are any problems encountered? Other tips on cold weather running (below -10)would be appreciated. Also does anyone know of any articles on cold running from when these cars were new?
Thanks Al
