Default XK8 97' loose plug in engine compartment

Hello everyone,

I'm having some trouble with my bank 2 oxygen sensor reading 0 volts (thus failing the emission check, no wonder, if the fuel trim is at +20%), but while investigating I found this loose plug.

Does anyone happen to have any clue what's supposed to fit in it?

That looks like the connector to the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve, on cars for the North American market.

I'm seeing this post on my phone at the moment, so I can't see what continent you're on!

Thanks for the help, that might also explain my exhaust problems!

I'm in the Netherlands and the car is a British import, is it at all possible that this was just left disconnected in European markets? That would seem rather strange though.

Found it, I think, according to this TSB it is possible to remove the EGR valve tube and connector:

Though my VIN is not in the range, it mustn't be a problem then.

As long as your ECM isn't programmed to expect feedback from the EGR valve, you shouldn't have any problems with trouble codes or "check engine" lights.

Ah thanks. Strange thing is, I unplugged my Oxygen sensor and it didn't throw a check engine light (Code did though). Replaced with a Bosch LS07 and now it works fine.
