Default Pollen filter

Can someone tell me where the cabin air filter is located on a 2005 XKR and how to change it. Have changed many filters on other cars, I can't find this one.

The filter, if fitted, is below the cowl panel grill. Wiper arms have to be removed along with the grill. The filter should be visable at that point. Many of the earlier US cars did not have the filter. I do not know about the '05 MY.

Question

Well..rats. After buying a replacement filter before exploring the cowl I find my '97 has no filter housing or mount or whatever. Now that I have a cabin air filter with no place to go, anyone ever retro fit the parts? If it goes in through the cowl opening it looks like the pax side wiper spindle would need to come out and maybe part of the bracing.

Here is some information that I received when asking about this filter. "Also you need part MJA6865AA “Filter element Housing” , and of course the filter MJD6863AA".

Hope it helps.

In addition you also need to enable the "pollen Filter" setting in the car with the dealer tool (IDS/WDS), this will ensure the fans blow a little faster to overcome the extra resistance of the filter.

Sorry we didn't get to you sooner. I was told awhile back from a dealer source, that this 'pollen' filter housing was an add-on that never got added to the car after awhile. Very few ever made it out of the factory with one.

Oh, and you're not the only one to buy a filter, to discover they don't have the housing for it. Someone else did also, then offered me the filter. I checked, turns out mine didn't have it either. I think this member STILL has the filter to this day.

That's pretty funny, as I too have Pollen Filter sitting in my garage................ with no framework to set it into. Maybe I'll get around to it someday, but it's a low priority for sure.

Default XKR cabin filter

I'm the one who started this. I bought the filter before I removed the cowel and discovered that the car was not fitted with one. Fortunately, I was able to return it. I would be good to remove the page from the owner's manual if it doesn't exist.

It does state in the 'book' that some items are extras. A main dealer can give you a print off of extras fitted. I found this out when my wing mirrors would not fold back. They're extras !!

Whoa, now we're gettin' somewhere.. how about a blow by blow of the retrofit?
What did you have to disassemble to install the housing?

I also replaced the closing plate(8), you may want to move it out of the way to enable install.
