Hi
I took my 1997 Xk8 for mot and couldnt get out of the driver door, lock seems to have gone
Could someone please give me some advice of my cheapest thing to do rather than the garage charging me an arm and leg to repair1

The first step would be to remove the door panel and see if the arm that links the door lock latch to the interior door lever has slipped off. Each end of the rod has a plastic clip that may have broken and allowed it to vibrate off.

If it is a broken spring within the door lock latch, you can usually find used replacements on Ebay.

The Door Latch has three operating rods:



Red goes to the interior door handle, blue and green to the lock and outside handle.

Other than one of the rods becoming detached, microswitches in the Door Latch are a known issue but are available separately.

As you mention "MoT", you must be in the UK. If the Latch or any rods are broken, used parts from a specialist Jaguar breaker will save you a packet.
