Default xk8 Engine light

I just purchased a 2000 XK8. The engine light is constantly on. Should I be concerned or is it an electrical issue?

Moved this from the X-Type section.

Yes, you should be concerned. Stop in at your local AutoZone or AdvanceAuto and get your codes read. You can also do a "hard reset" and see if it clears the light. There is some issue or the light wouldn't be on.

I concur, for that car with all of those issues (none of which keep it from actually being used) a price around $2500 would probably move it pretty quickly. Heck, I might even take a stab at it, if I were local. As is, most of us here with the *****/stupid enough to try it have to factor in shipping costs, which don't make it feasible. Put it on craigslist for $2850 and let them negotiate it down to $2500.

My big fear, based on my limited experience owning a 2003, was that part availability is limiting what all I can do to keep one of these things on the road. That, and I'm getting too old to want to bother with the hassle.

Best of luck.

You need to read the OBDII codes before taking any action to resolve your issues....
