Default XK8 Facelift/Nosejob

After seeing H20Boy's inspirational thread about converting an XK8 grill to a XKR's, I decided I wanted one too.

Started with the standard equipment...

During Concept/Mock Up Phase, experimented with a slightly different look...

And after discussion with the local Jag body shop, they came up with this...

Thanks again Matt for the great idea, and XKRacer for a great deal on the grill!

Looks good! I'm going to do something similar eventually, but I want to remove the little bumpers altogether and just have a mesh grill across the entire opening.

Thanks everyone, I'm very happy with it. Sam, the solid mesh grill with the Jaguar badge on it would look great. I was looking at a 2011 XK's grill at the dealer a few weeks ago when the idea came to me for my car.

Very nice, looking forward to do the same in mine someday. The three piece grill is hard to find (used, of course).

Thanks, Tony, appreciate the comments. I doubt I would have found a grill without your help, rare as they are. Seemed a good opportunity to get an overhaul of the chipped up cover and work the grill in during the reassembly.

The growler badge in the center section is a great added touch.

It looks really nice but, I kind of like the 97 grill. the 97 look period is the best body style to me. With the 97 we have to take those engines and trannies out and make sure they are up to par. and i was told by this England guy in compton that work on jags and RR bentley; " those are valuable cars once the tsb's are all taken care of

How is the growler badge attached to the "nose" in the stock configuration? I'm planning on redoing the "nose" of my XKR this winter and bought the one piece mesh grill from Mina Gallery. I really like the look of the growler badge on your mesh grill and would like to do something similar.

looks like a big bug caught in its braces

Definitely a one-off, I'm sure it'll grow on me as time goes on. Looks like the grille got installed really well, can't even see the edges, nice job by your body shop.

Looks good, I'm not a big fan of the growler badge period. But I like the look of the clean bumper. You have the option of removing it whenever you want.
Nice write up.

The shop did a great job. They did a neat job trimming the excess material off the inside corners of the cover opening like you suggested in your thread, so the fit of the grill is very even.
When they prepped the cover, they noticed the factory paint was very thin, so they gave it two coats instead of one, it looks really deep now. They did a nice job on the overriders too, filling the chrome bar gaps with some material before painting them, and while there is a slight outline around the gap, it was very neatly done.

It does. I prefer it on the grill rather than the bonnet.

Thanks RC! I like the badge much better on the grill than on the nose, so I'll probably keep it there, but it would be removed easily, you're right.

What's the green car in your sig photo?
