And what leads you to believe the BCM is at fault?

i bought the car with a fault that stopped it starting it had been to jaguar who said the bcm was at fault. the previous owner had bought another bcm which i had fitted and reprogrammed but from that point the roof ,mirrors and a few other electrical components would not work. It went back to the shop but when they tried to sort it it shows convertible control as switched off and it will not turn on they contacted jaguar who state that this can only be set from new unless the replacement comes from a convertible as it is a base control programme which is unchangeable once set therefore to get all controls working ie roof , mirrors, central locking and alarm i need a new bcm from a convertible

Regarding checking on eBay, right now there are several that look correct ('98 convertible XK8 donor shown in photo). Not sure about VIN range. I would just keep looking there. Convertibles vastly outnumber coupes, so it should not be difficult.

In the US, not the UK. The original poster should do an advanced search on eBay and specify US.

the bcm is located behind the glove box and is held in by 3 bolts easy to access once the glovebox is removed

all the ones in the uk yes but convertibles are rarer in the uk than the us because you get this strange thing in the sky called the sun and we very rarely see it and by the time we do it is already worn out and feeble
