XK8 not chargng
I have a 1997 XK8. I was away for 3 months and disconnected the battery so as not to run it flat. Came home, connected, runs fine but the battery is not charging from the alternator now. Regulator fuse is fine and belt is not slipping. Is there anything I can check before taking it to the auto electrician?

The Alternator on my '97 went bad and stopped charging. A $50 alternator from a 2002 XJ8 at the junkyard and it was back charging again.
9 Months later, the $50 Junkyard alternator stopped charging and I thought "so much for being cheap" and start to tear it apart.
The captured washer on the nut on positive terminal of the alternator cracked and fell off, so only the swage on the nut was holding cable to the alternator and 1) the cable could flop around and 2) all of the power was going through a tiny sliver of metal.
Flipped the nut around, cable was tight and $50 alternator starts charging again.
If it's the original '97 alternator, my money is on the alternator, but it could be as simple as a loose connection.
