You can download the manuals for the Jaguar phone system from the sticky section at the top of the forum. In brief; insert a SIM card that still works with these old phones in the handset. Use it like a normal mobile phone, or put it in the cradle to use it handsfree. The phone icon on the stereo switches to phone mode and answers calls.

Different model years had different handsets, so the exact instructions will depend on which handset you have.

You'll do far better to add in a third party unit. I have a 2003 XKR and found a Bluetooth unit from discountcarstereo.com that was deigned specifically for our Jaguars and was easy to install. The unit I bought was designed to fit into the wiring connectors where the CD changer in the trunk (boot) plugs in. Very easy to install and works great. They have other models if you don't have the changer.
I just wanted Bluetooth audio from so I got there A2D-JAG98, but they have other models that include hands free phone calls as well as the audio.

Check out their website here:

are you able to continue to use it like it was a factory set up? I want the entire old phone set up in my car or show and to make the sound when powered up but I want my car to connect directly to my iPhone by pressing the phone button on the steering wheel and saying call John. Does that work?

No. You can't get two sim card for the same number, at least not from one of the networks. Criminals are able to clone phones for use in fraud, so it's not impossible, but not something you can just buy.

Just get another sim with a different number. When you are in the car, divert your incoming phone calls on your iPhone to the car's number - nice and simple.
