Is there a website to retrieve older XK8 service records? I am trying find out if my 99 XK8 4.0L has the timing chain tensioners changed.

Take the covers off and look if they are plastic ( NO ) or metal (YES).

 

The ONLY records that you might find with a dealer search is TSB or RECALL compliance.
No 'customer-pay' repair work is going to be found except at the repair facility itself.

 

I took the covers off an looked. It is not too difficult - even me, who is only learning - I was able to do it in a few hours. Look up yt videos by od&r modurol - they are quick. There are other videos that take you thru the slowly if you prefer that.

 

Carfax may give some information as they will have some service records by VIN. If records are vague but you see multiple records from a Jaguar dealer, the dealer may be able to give or sell you more details. Auto check is another similar service that car dealers use.

 

Just remember that lack of history on Carfax (or similar) doesn’t prove anything, as not all dealers or repair shops participate in such databases.
