Default XK8 Throttle body "ticking noise."

I have a ticking noise coming from the throttle body on my 2000 XK8. It has 82000 miles on it, It runs great, and there's no problem w/mpg. It's one of those noises that just bugs me. My dealer tech. blames it on increased ethnol in the fuel. I'm burning 93 octane Exxon/Mobil in it. Has anyone else had this problem/noise? What would get rid of the noise? Thanks in advance for any feedback I can get on this.

Give us a few more details...

Do you hear just before startup? After shutdown? While driving, idling? Is it constant or does it go away after a while?

This will help the resident tech wizards with a diagnosis.

My TB ticks and whirls on start up. Some sort of reset, diagnostic?

The ticking is obvious at start up but seems to be intermittent after warm up. I recently cleaned the MAFS, changed to a K&N panel filter, cleaned the air box, and cleaned the throat of the throttle body in an effort to stop the ticking.

Also, the tick only starts at idle.

along with this, did you do a hard reset?

reason being, the calibration will be out now you've cleaned and altered the air flow (filter MAF etc) Do a hard reset - it will re-calibrate the TB - you'll hear the engine start and have a high idle maybe up to 2000rpm, this decreases as the TB recalibrates down to almost stall then back to standard idle speed. Leave it to tick over for 10 minutes then take it for a ride.

Still ticking, I wouldn't worry, I've heard them whine loudly as the butterfly is held open on tickover.

Thumbs up Thanks.

I didn't do a reset, so this was great feedback. Thanks...
