XK8 trunk lamps
Hello Jaguar fans, I have a 1998 XK8 roadster, I have a problem with my left and right trunk lamps. I do have fresh new bulbs, and when I use my test light , power to the lamp assembly , but the lights don’t work, any suggestions? Thank you!!
I don't think you understand how DC current works. You need POWER and EARTH. (ground)
Measure BOTH sides of the lamp and make sure you have POSITIVE and NEGATIVE supply as well as a good festoon bulb.

Hello Beefhart,
the BPM (body processor module) provides the +12V to the lamps: Thhis is what you may measure. It will stop providing this after a set time in order to stop draining the battery if the boot is open
in line with the lamps is a little switch located in to trunk/boot lock. This is in fact a very tiny microswitch that has a tendency to break.
If you (double) lock the car with the remote control and then open the boot with the manual key, the alarm should be activated: If not, this switch is broken
(In my case it was "half dead": Providing a too high resistance - it was still giving enough ground to the SLM (security and lock module) to inform it, that the boot is open) but the resistance was too high for the lamps to be "on")
There is plenty of info on this switch within this forum...
