Default XK8 window regulator

My driver's seat window regulator cable broke and I'm looking for replacement. The original part is $$$. Any good hints where to find those?
Thanks!

I'll give you a hint.....try a parts house. Or the dealer.

Or were you looking for an answer like..."The guy up the road is giving them away."

Do I sound that stupid?

A window regulator left costs between $990 and $1200.

I tried parts dealer and ebay and what not. I can get quarter rear, window right, S Jag, X Jag but no...

Anyway, it could have been that someone said: use the window regulator from a Ford Mustang, because they are the same manufacturer.

You might have to just sack up and buy it, man. If you drive a Jag you gotta expect to shell out some coin. It's not an old Vega, you know.

Your left front window regulator is not cable operated. It's all mechanical linkage. It may be just a matter of adjustment, which is a pain in the *** to explain over the net. I'd try to take it to a reputable Jag shop and see what they say. Wouldn't it be worth it to take a chance that it only needs an adjustment, which is what the problem is most of the time, then to go buy an expensive part you're not even sure is bad? Even if it seems the window motor is stuck completely, most of the time, it's just jammed, and needs to be adjusted.

I had someone look at it and he says the cable is gone (whatever that means). I just shelled out $1000 for new tires. lol.
You know there's no reason for that part being so expensive. It's not made of gold. It's just that there are too few parts made and sold. The regulator cable itself does not cost more than a handfull of cents, but it's not easy to replace it.
After a merger of car manufacturers, it's very common to use the same parts for the other model line.

I do know this much when the cable release on your seat back breaks you can go to your local hardware store and get a lawnmower throttle cable and fix it.

If you're looking for guaranteed working, salvaged/used part, try Jagtechohio (do a forum search, I can never find his profile). He's got access to almost any part out there and is great to deal with.
