XK8 wiper problem
I understand that early Jaguars invented intermitent wipes, as well as intermitent lights, heaters, charging and such. But on my 97, the windshield (screen) wipers will work fine for a while and then just stop, mid stroke. All I have to do is move the switch position and they are back of for a while. This occurs in any position the switch is in, High, low or pulsed. any ideas?
It sure sounds like the switch itself ... something intermittent.
Can you get the same result ... the wipers work again for a while ... by just wiggling the switch a bit rather than changing its position?

Funny one, this.
Is the time over which the wipers operate before quitting repeatable, or does it seem random?
Is this time the same for all switch positions?
Thanks for your help and humor. Yes the results are the same for any switch position. Ant the timing is random. No predictable pattern. (guess that's the meaning of random) I took the wiper motor apart and the microswitch inside for parking the wipers seemed just fine, good action no sticking...Any more ideas from our tremendous Knowledge Base? Thanks Al

OK, how about this test:
Run the wipers to the point where they freeze. Let's use low speed, full-time operation for starters. Now check the voltage on the low speed voltage supply wire leading to the wiper motor. (For my '01, the wire color looks to be black with red.)
Voltage still present? Casing of motor and ground lead (brown) show zero volts? If all this is so, seems the problem is in the motor itself; otherwise it's in the electronics driving the motor. This at least should tell us where to look further, where not to look.
