Default XK8 wont lock

Diagnostic says "passenger door open", of course its not! But also window doesnt rise to top when door closed. Tried looking for a door open sensor/plunger - nothing found (I guess I still live in the 70's). Any guidance would bemost welcome. (If I lock with key the alarm goes off after about 10mins as I guess the door open issue tells the burglar alarm its open.)

The switch is in the door latch.

You can verify the operation of the switch in the door latch.

While holding door handle up, flip the actual latch in and out with a pencil.

IN ,as with the door closed, window should go up ,light in door will go out.

OUT, as with the door open, window should go down, light in door will go on.

Remember door handle must be held UP all this time.

The door electrical switch is part of the latch assembly, the usual fix is to replace the latch. I have heard some industrious owners have replaced the microswitch in the latch to fix it.

What I did first was to reprogram the window. To do this you push the window down button and hold until you hear or feel a click. Then push the window button for the window to close and hear or feel the click. This should be done when you are in the car and the door is closed. The window should operate properly by opening a slight bit when the door is opened and close when the door is closed.
This problem is often caused by a weak battery voltage. 10.5 or below they loose memory settings.

if the battery is not the problem, and if the MIL shows door open, more than likely the latch with the switch is bad. It is common in these cars, mine have already been replaced once.
