I have a 1999 XK8 that has a blown engine. I need to either get a new XK8 engine or find a used one somewhere. I've been thinking about swapping the drive train out for the XKR. If I were to find an XJR from 1999 or an XKR from 2000 (depending on whether mine is a "1999 built in 1999" or a "2000 built in 1999"), what would be the necessary parts swapped form the R to my XK8?

R engine, ECU, fuel system
R trans, trans ECU

wiring harnesses from engine and trans

would I need the cooling system for the supercharger?

I live in Southern California so I would need the exhaust system to pass smog

 

Do a search on XK8 to XKR conversion. There have been several threads on this topic. The general consensus is buy an XKR. the engine transmission ECU TCM etc. etc. There a lot of used engines in SoCal.
