XKR AC not working
Not sure if this question was posted. I am relatively new to the site. If posted previously I apologize. I have a 2005 XKR that the AC is not working. I brought it to a certified AC mechanic and they could not find the leak in the engine bay using dye and a black light. They thought that it could be a leak in the evaporator coil which they said is located behind the dash. They did not do this kind of work. I am not sure if I should take it to another AC specialist, a Jaguar specialist or a Jaguar dealer. It sounds like this could be a very expensive repair. If someone on the forum could recommend a course of action and make any suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks.
Did they check the dashboard area with a sniffer device? If it's a large leak, they should be able to detect it by ear or sniffer even if it's the evaporator, although leaks there are unusual because it is a relatively protected environment.
The garage should be able to detect the speed of the leak with their vacuum equipment. When you last had the system refilled, how long did it take before it would not work again?

That's not a particularly slow leak which can easily be a year or two. I would have thought that a good auto a/c specialist would be able to pinpoint the source of that leak.

Dye and black light is kind of old-fashioned. A sniffer is usually a better bet.
Did I understand? You fill the refrigerant and the system works fine for a couple of months, and then stops once the refrigerant leaks out? If so, it sounds like a bad o-ring or the flexible portion of one of the lines. If it were mine, I think I'd start by replacing all the o-rings.
