Default XKR factory lowered with 20inch wheels

Does anyone know if the XKR with the 20inch wheels has been factory lowered compared to XKR with only 18inch wheels?

To me XKR with 20inch wheels looks slightly lower than then standard XKR?

I don't think they did, a few years ago we had 2 XKR's one with 20's and the other with stock 18's and I don't think there was any difference height wise.
here is a pic of them side by side

Maybe it is the way the 20inch rims fills the guard, that makes it looks like the XK are lowered.

What about XKR with R features version are they lower than standard?

Well doing further reseach it seems that the XKR with R features (I assume 20inch wheels) are slightly lower from the factory.

I don't think those lower springs ever were used in production at least in the US market cars. I'm pretty sure Jag didn't want to get the lower height approved by the DOT and since the lower springs were designed for the coupe only which is a small % of the total XK production run, I don't think they ever bothered. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

The XKR convertibles are all definitely the same ride height.

Can anyone tell me what the stock ride height of a 2002 XKR and where it is measured ? I believe mine has been lowered but I am not sure if it has or how much. I do have 20in wheels and I do get a little tire rub only on the left front?

There is another thread discussing the handling package option on the XKRs. Short answer is if it came with the handling package, then yes, it was lower by a couple of inches, and most if not all of the cars with handling packages had 20" wheels.

I just purchased my 2005 XKR coupe with the "handling package", "base model with sports seats", "20 inch Sepang wheels" and "red brake calipers" listed separately under optional equipment on my window sticker. When I was doing my research on the XKR I came across these descriptions in a couple of articles :

"there is a special-order Handling Package ($3000) which consists of firmer shocks, springs and antiroll bars, a retuned speed-sensitive power steering, and cross-drilled brake rotors"

"A Handling Package, exclusive to the XKR coupe, features cross-drilled Brembo brakes, revised CATS damper settings, and re-tuned power steering. Optional red brake calipers are also available along the with Handling Package."

I can't comment on the ride height versus the XKRs without the handling package but the original owner did tell me that there were only ten 2005 XKR coupes which had the handling option imported into the US. Who knows if that number is correct - I didn't factor it into my purchase decision. Kind of cool if it turns out to be the case, however.

Best Regards, Fred
